The Ateneo College Exam Test (ACET) results will be published on January 17, 2010. The ACET results will determine which students who took the exam last year will be eligible to enrol at Ateneo de Manila University for the school-year 2010 – 2011.
Decisions on freshman applications will be released in January 2010. Decisions on transfer applications will be released in the first week of May 2010.
The ACET results will be posted on the following schedules and venues:

According to industry data, only 7 out of every 100 call center applicants get hired or accepted by companies. Though is is a very low number, previous estimates were in the 3 to 5% only.
CCAP has been working with several educational institutions and government offices, including the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), to train potential employees in English proficiency and other related skills.
Outside of Metro Manila, Iloilo City and Davao City are being targeted as the new hot spots for opening new call centers, according to BusinessWeek.
The international business magazine has named the cities of Iloilo and Davao as two of the world’s new hotspots for business processoutsourcing (BPO) investments.
BusinessWeek magazine said Iloilo and Davao were among the 31 cities that were being eyed by BPO investors due to economic and political pressures to outsource work to lower-cost cities, said an article posted on its website last May 2.
The results of the 2008 Bar examinations will be released by the Supreme Court En Banc this Friday, April 3. The SC Justices will meet at 9 a.m. that day to deliberate on the passing percentage.
Justice Dante O. Tinga, Chairperson of the 2008 Committee on Bar Examinations, said the list of the names will be displayed in LCD projectors to be strategically displayed at the Supreme Court front yard near its Padre Faura entrance. The results can be viewed simultaneously at sc.judiciary.gov.ph, the official website of the High Court.
Figures from the Office of the Bar Confidant headed by Deputy Clerk of Court and Bar Confidant Atty. Ma. Cristina B. Layusa showed a total of record 6,364 law graduates from 109 law schools nationwide took and finished the exams held on September 7, 14, 21, and 28, 2008 at the De La Salle University in Taft Avenue, Manila.

Dell Philippines has closed their Pasay operations and sold everything to Teleperformance for an alleged amount of Php200 million. All employees were sent the notice last Friday. Teleperformance will have the option to retain some employees in management level while all the rest will be asked to send in their resignation letters. No details on what will happen to the former employees of Dell Pasay but the Quezon City call center will still be operated by Dell Philippines.

Over 600 people were affected in the latest round of mass layoff by contact center company KGB Philippines. It turns out that their SMS account has been overloaded with agents without anything to do as industry demand slows down in the midst of the financial crisis.
The lay off was announced last February 9 at the KGB Sta. Rosa office with more than 600 agents affected. More details about this story here.

Accenture Manila has announced that the Philippine office has to lay off more than 500 employees in different divisions (mostly Solutions).
It appears that Accenture has over-hired workers for projects that have been canceled, discontinued or put on hold. The news came in the morning of January 15, 2009 where employees were asked to report to the Manila office in batches only to be presented with a severance package and walking papers.
Accenture has over 16,000 employees in the Philippines and is expected to lay off several more people.
