Ventus, PLDT’s Php360 Million call center

A subsidiary of ePLDT Inc., the call center arm of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., is spending P360 million to put up a call center in the Ortigas central business district.

The call center of ePLDT Ventus Inc., which can house 823 agents, will offer financial and market support services to PLDT and its Smart Communications Inc. unit and third-party clients.

ePLDT Ventus has applied for incentives with the Board of Investments for the new project, which company officials said also included backup facilities with 46 seats in Quezon City and another one in the Makati business district with 245 seats.

The company is eyeing third-party clients in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, the officials said.

PLDT Ventus Call Center partners with Infosys

VENTUS, the call center company of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.’s (PLDT) unit ePLDT Inc., has entered into a partnership agreement with Infosys BPO Ltd., a business process outsourcing subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed Infosys Technologies of India.

Ventus president Rose Montenegro said the agreement would enable both companies to reach additional markets and offer expanded services to customers.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Infosys BPO handles the data and voice requirements of Infosys’ customers in the US.

Ventus has 4,500 seats in seven sites in the country that are using PLDT facilities. It expects to increase the number of seats to 5,000 by the end of 2006, and to 6,000 in 2007.
